Design Lab Fund
The Design Lab at UC San Diego is an anchor institution within the San Diego-Tijuana region that pairs design education and research with community needs to create positive and impactful real-world solutions and design-driven innovations.
The Junior Designer program, Design@Large, and Design Lab Impact and Student Culture Organization (DISCO) are three innovative Design Lab initiatives that transcend disciplinary boundaries and pioneer new frontiers in the landscape of design and education.
Junior Designers
The Junior Designer program converts classroom learning to hands-on experience with industry, civic leaders and our binational community projects. Junior Designers have been a critical force behind World Design Capital 2024, Stories Unsheltered and Design for San Diego (D4SD).
Design@Large
Design@Large features world-class thought leaders speaking on their topics of expertise. Organized each quarter around a timely theme, course leadership is rotated among Design Lab faculty to ensure every quarter — and every event — is fresh and compelling. D@L is held each fall, winter and spring quarter of the academic year and is always open to the general public in addition to enrolled students.
DISCO
With the goal of strengthening the culture of service and governance among the graduate students in the lab, DISCO oversees many service-based initiatives, ranging from quarterly happy hours to peer mentorship programs. DISCO initiatives are all led by motivated graduate students who value cultivating a healthy and multi-faceted student culture. DISCO also connects the Director’s Office to graduate students and provides a platform for contributing to the governance of the Design Lab on activities such as faculty hiring and external partnerships.
Please make a gift in support of the Design Lab this Triton Giving Day! When we come together for design-driven transformation, we can unlock limitless possibility.
Dragon Boat Team
The UC San Diego Dragon Boat Team is a competitive paddling team that participates in races at the collegiate level.
Dragon Boat is a unique sport similar to canoeing that involves 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steer, working together to reach the finish line.
We are recognized as one of the top collegiate dragon boat teams due to our success in San Francisco’s CDBA Collegiate Championship, Tempe’s Arizona Dragon Boat Festival, the Long Beach Spring Race and the Long Beach Summer Dragon Boat Festival. Our team’s victories are a result of a unified and cohesive team effort where our merits are not measured by medals but the growth and impact of the team as a whole.
Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC)
The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) at UC San Diego provides high-quality, research-based childcare for 225 young children (ages 3 months to 5 years) that supports their social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. This commitment to the growth and well-being of our youngest Tritons also enables ECEC parents — students, faculty and staff — to achieve their educational and career goals.
Support for ECEC empowers us to better serve our dynamic community, allowing us to enhance enrichment programs, invest in our teachers, expand access through tuition assistance and ensure that every child receives the best possible start in their educational journey.

Eleanor Roosevelt College Innovation Fund
“Courage is more exhilarating than fear, and in the long run it is easier. We do not have to become heroes overnight. Just one step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appeared, discovering we have the strength to stare it down.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt College’s namesake dedicated her life to human, civil and international rights and the world citizen-scholars at Eleanor Roosevelt College are building the courage do the same. For some, that means participating international service projects. For others, it means working with First Nation communities, interning with social justice nonprofits or tutoring high school students.
Your generosity today empowers these scholars’ dedication to international human rights. The Eleanor Roosevelt College Innovation Fund supports student-centered activities, like shared meals with faculty, that complement their coursework.
Make your gift today to revolutionize what possibility means for Eleanor Roosevelt scholars!
Electrical and Computer Engineering Excellence and Innovation
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) combines cutting-edge research with innovative teaching.
What ECE students learn in the classroom is directly applied in real-world scenarios, providing the skills that students need to be successful in industry and internships, and we have received recognition for innovation in academic programming.
ECE ranks 14th in the nation for its programs in electrical / electronic / communications engineering (US News and World Report Ranking of Best Engineering Schools, published April 2025).
Our students benefit from access to facilities such as the ECE MakerSpace and Envision Maker Studio, and receive ample free tutoring through our dedicated Tutoring Center.
Through our Summer Research Internship Program (SRIP), students at all levels get involved in research projects under the mentorship of renowned faculty. Our faculty and students are making groundbreaking discoveries in areas such as brain sensors and implants, robotic surgery, AI, RF MEMS, smartphone blood pressure monitoring, electro-optic modulators, ultra-low power Internet-of-Things devices, 5G/6G wireless communications and even robotic dancing(!) among many other areas.
The programs and resources available to our students and faculty are sustained and expanded through the generosity of philanthropy. Your gift today supports student success, faculty research and programmatic excellence and innovation.
Thank you for giving to ECE!
Equestrian Team
The UC San Diego Equestrian Team is a part of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and competes throughout the year to qualify for Regionals, Zones and ultimately Nationals.
It’s a challenging sport, especially without our own barn and horses, but we are grateful for our alumni, the community and our coaches for their support in our pursuit of success and passion for horses.
We welcome riders at all levels and provide a wonderful way to continue riding and competing in college that does not require you to own your own horse.
