Adventure Initiative
The Adventure Initiative helps UC San Diego students become confident leaders who can adapt to the challenges of a fast changing world.
Outback Adventures is the Outdoor Education arm of the Recreation department which provides opportunities for students to experience nature’s majesty in remote wild locations travelling by canoe, kayak or backpack across forests, mountains, rivers and seas. These opportunities become formative life changing experiences that lead to improvements in confidence, peer leadership, judgement and decision making
What we will do with Giving Day donations:
When you make a gift today you can help:
- Provide support for students attending the Wilderness Orientation, a program for incoming students to gain a sense of belonging to UC San Diego and serve as a critical right of passage in the stressful transition from high school student to undergraduate through group wilderness travel experiences.
- Provide funding for students to enroll in the Outdoor Leadership Certificate program, a year long training program to develop the next generation of outdoor leaders.
- Support student outdoor leaders in gaining their Wilderness First Responder certification. This intense eight day medical training gives our leaders the skills to manage any health and accident related emergency while operating in remote environments.
