Sports Clubs Outstanding Leadership Scholarship
Sport Clubs provide opportunities for students to experience the commitment, challenge and enjoyment of a competitive extramural sports experience.
These teams are initiated and led by students and reflective of their diverse sporting interests. The leaders of every team, known as the Sports Clubs Officers, volunteer their time and work together to create budgets, recruit coaches and athletes, liaise with leagues and NGB, order apparel, plan community events, coordinate travel, report incidents and injuries, fundraise and more.
What we will do with Giving Day donations:
The Outstanding Leadership Scholarship was created to reward officers for their hard work, leadership and vision for their teams.
Over 60 Sports Clubs officers, across our 30 teams, are eligible to apply for the scholarship each year. This award recognizes an athlete who demonstrates outstanding academic, campus and community leadership during their undergraduate years. Once awarded, a $1,000-$1,500 scholarship is added to the student’s financial aid. 1-3 officers are awarded annually.

“Being a member of the Women’s Club Water Polo team has significantly impacted my experience as a student at UC San Diego not only by giving me an outlet to be active and social, but also by giving me a home. The highlight of every week for me is always the time that I get to spend in the pool with my teammates; I love my team and my coaches so, so much. Financially, this scholarship helped me a lot because I am paying for basically everything that is not covered by financial aid. I worked at the pool so that I was able to afford housing and tuition, but receiving this scholarship definitely relieved some of the burden”.

Champion Student-Athlete Leadership - Kadifa Matching Challenge
Previous sports club leaders Macey Kadifa (17') and Joseph Kadifa (18', 20') will match up to $500 in donations for the annual sports club's outstanding leadership scholarship.
