BLACK ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Since its inception 40 years ago, the UC San Diego Black Alumni Scholarship Fund (BASF) has provided more than $1 million in support to over 400 scholars studying engineering, mathematics and science or arts, humanities and social sciences. In addition to much-needed funds, our BASF Scholars are paired with alumni mentors and provided experiential learning opportunities, setting them up for future academic and professional success.

In support of these efforts, the San Diego Foundation has agreed to match all donations to the BASF endowment at the San Diego Foundation, up to a total of $500,000. While your donation goes to support scholarships in perpetuity, the matching funds will be available immediately for scholarships — doubling the impact of your gift.

On this Triton Giving Day, we invite you to join legions of donors since the fund was first established in committing to cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment where students can thrive. Your gift to the BASF will continue to expand UC San Diego’s capacity to welcome more high-achieving Black students into our Triton community.
