Student Veterans Resource Center
UC San Diego is home to one of the largest military-affiliated undergraduate communities of any University of California campus.
Anyone who knows and loves someone who served, also knows their courage begets unique challenges. The Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) provides community and valuable resources for student veterans, active duty service members, reserves and family members.
Our goal is to assist our students as they transition from a military environment to campus life and provide them with the support they need to complete their degree, foster a supportive community and gain the skills and knowledge they need for a successful life.
A gift to the SVRC supports services like:
- Scholarships and short-term loans so student veterans can complete their degree, even after they have exhausted their GI Bill benefits.
- Transitional support programs to ensure student veterans receive adequate peer, academic and professional assistance.
- Full-time academic and career coaches who manage internship opportunities and career and networking events for military-connected students.
- Mental health services that foster awareness and community-based interventions.
- Disability accommodations and diagnostic testing for injuries, impairments or learning disabilities to ensure success.
- Financial support to pay for alternative health and wellness treatments for relief from symptoms that have not responded to traditional health treatments.
- Childcare subsidies to help student veteran parents meet their childcare needs and focus on their studies.
Support our campus' military-connected student population by making a gift today! With your help, we will continue to provide services, programs and resources tailored to their unique needs and circumstances for decades to come.

Support Sally Ride Science @ UC San Diego
Sally Ride, America’s first woman in space, had retired from NASA and was teaching physics at UC San Diego when she decided to use her famous name to advance a cause she cared about.
To help narrow the gender gap in science and engineering, she joined with her life partner, Tam O’Shaughnessy, and three colleagues — Karen Flammer, Terry McEntee and Alann Lopes — to found Sally Ride Science in 2001.
Over the years, Sally Ride Science created acclaimed STEM programs for girls and boys of all backgrounds across the country. Ride died of pancreatic cancer in 2012, and in 2015, Sally Ride Science found a new home as a nonprofit based at UC San Diego under the direction of UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies.
Today, Sally Ride Science at UC San Diego continues Ride’s legacy with innovative programs encouraging diversity in STEAM (STEM plus arts).

Surf Team
The UC San Diego Surf Team is more than a collective of highly dedicated student-athletes, it's a tightly knit community of students driven by a profound passion for the ocean.
With seven National Titles the UC San Diego Surf Team is very competitive, and our student-athletes and alumni successfully represent the university with pride. We are academic and community oriented and our diverse and accomplished alumni also help to serve as a springboard for our students' development and career launches.
New in 2025, the team joined the MED TAC program. Members of the team become certified instructors with rescue care and American College of Surgeons. This is making our world safer by training and certifying young surfers in the San Diego community and beyond.
We continue to build momentum for the 2025-26 season in hopes to once again claim a national title as our own. For the first time since 1997, the 2025 team took home the NSSA Collegiate State Championship title and we could not be more excited or proud!
Surf Team Scholarships
The creation of scholarships for the UC San Diego Surf Team marks an innovative and new era for the program which will build upon student success and pave the way for more National Championships.
Between 1969 and 2019, the Surf team won seven national championships, making it one of the most successful sports organizations in UC San Diego history. The Tritons remain competitive BUT have not won a national championship in almost 20 years and they are hungry for the #1 spot.
Support for these academic scholarships is elevating the program overall and recognizing what it takes to be a “smart surfer.” The team continues to thrive and showcase success in many ways, including contributions to ocean conservation, tech boom, medicine and more.
TRELS Program Scholarship Support Fund
